Scouting

Headed out to scout a bit of the main route, check a possible road closure on the long course and get some pics of our new end goal. Glad to say that all checked out, especially our end goal, the Bikers Bakery!

Let’s go.

Let’s hope we have a repeat of today’s weather as Fuji was in clear view from all over.

While it was 30°C in Ebina at 1:30pm, 1888m up Fuji, the bike was telling me it was 17° and MighTy10 is usually 2° over ambient. So, it was chilly and the mesh I was luvin at lower altitudes in the heat was like standing in an arctic wind at speed. Thankfully, the extreme altitude doesn’t last long and a brief stop for photos thawed me out nicely.

Btw, if new to the long course, that extra ascent has some surprise jumps, some vertebrae crushing flood culverts and a very enticing jump that hides a nasty floodwash crossing behind HERE.

ALERT for long course riders. 👇

Don’t miss the turn at the ski resort as you’re climbing out of Narasawa.

And once successfully on course, beware! It gets a lot narrower, tighter, bumper and less predictable. The very first corner is the worst of it.

The left hand corner after the zoomy straight is covered in fine dirt and grit from an adjacent construction area. RESIST the zoomy little straight and approach with caution!

Let’s check out our goal. Biker’s Bakery

Spoke to the owner and he’s expecting us. He confirmed food and drinks are available till 8pm.

Can recommend the Pita bread sandwich (ピタパン) and cheesecake.

That sandwich has nice big juicy hamburger pattie in there. I opted for the cheese and wafu sauce. 😋

The cheesecake was delicious, creamy and paired dangerously well with coffee.

The menu is limited but the quality is good. I won’t be wasting time eating after lunch anywhere else. This will be my dinner top.

Supposed to be the photo spot where you park up and get a great shot of your bike floating in front of that great valley view behind. But that peeerfect GTR was already parked there and it and MighTy10 where like brothers from a different mother…and father… 😎

Worth a look in here.

Very cool space. There’s a small tooled up workbench space behind the wall on the left.

That building off to the right is where you order.

Stopped off to give MighTy10 a de-griming and then topped off the tank. Thankfully fuel prices have remained affordable.

With the new rear tyre last Thursday, we’re ready to roll!

Now it’s time to get serious about salutations to Weather Gods and Road Gods to make this inbound typhoon veer away or maybe even give the roads a real nice wash and blow-dry. 🙏
