Fuji500 – Route Progress

They’re done! But they haven’t been sent yet. Patience please Twistybutts. 🙏

We have three patterns this year.

  1. The straight shootin’ ‘Fuji 500’
  2. The little trickier ‘Fuji 550’
  3. And the ‘Fujibutt Earlybird’

The Fuji 500 – 500km and five approaches up Fuji from 1400 metres to 2400 metres.
The Fuji 550 – 550km. Think of it as the Fuji 500 with a sixth approach up Fuji plus some extra challenging twisties and no shortcuts!
The Fujibutt Earlybird – this is the big kahuna. Adding 65km and a sunrise start to the Fuji 550!

Wait a sec, what? Don’t they all have a sunrise start?
As the day is so long and a 4:30am start far from home is just bonkers to some folks, there are going to be two morning meets. 4:30am and 6am. And we’ll all be there for the 6am start.

The Fuji 500 and Fuji 550 meet at a convenience store close to the Ken-O Doro in Sagamihara and start at 6am.
Those on the Fujibutt Earlybird start at 4:30am and get a far more scenic start and various views of Fuji on the way up through Kanagawa.

Those who’ve registered for the 500, keep an eye on your registered email midweek for the 500 route. It’s a great route and leaves plenty of time for photos, food and fooling around. And no, it’s not the same as last year.
Those who opted for the longer route are getting the Fuji 550 and the Earlybird extension, also midweek. It’ll be up to you to decide when to get out of bed and which start point to meet at.

Regarding start and finish points, they are all new this year. Should be more interesting. The Earlybird start and Finish sure are. The convenience store start…meh. But, the run to the goal has been tweaked to slink around traffic.
So, if you’re reading this and haven’t registered yet, less than two weeks to go, so get on it!

The routes are going out mid week. A little rest then a final check with clear vision and they’ll be good to go.
Looking forward to seeing you all on June 7!
